How to Get More Gig Bookings for Your Band

There's chasing bookings, and then there's being set up so bookings come to you. The difference is mostly about how easy you make it for people to take the next step.

Chasing bookings is part of the job. But there's chasing, and then there's being set up so bookings come to you. The difference is mostly about how you present yourself and how easy you make it for people to take the next step.

Make It Easy to Book You

The number one mistake bands make is making it hard to inquire. No direct contact on the website. A contact form that goes to a generic inbox. An Instagram page with "DMs open" as the booking method. None of these are deal-breakers individually, but together they create friction that costs you inquiries.

Make it obvious how to get in touch, and make the process fast. A prospective client who has to dig for your contact details might move on to the next band instead.

Follow Up Quickly

When an inquiry comes in, respond within 24 hours. Event planning involves a lot of moving parts, and clients are often comparing several options simultaneously. A fast, professional response wins more bookings than a slower one with a better offer.

Your first response doesn't need to be a full proposal. An acknowledgement, a confirmation of your availability, and an indication of when you'll follow up is enough to keep the conversation alive.

Build a Presence That Works While You Sleep

A profile page that shows up in search results, a video that answers "what do you sound like," and a booking inquiry form that routes directly to you means inquiries can come in without you actively chasing them.

Dashplan's public band profile does exactly this — clients find you, view your profile, and submit an inquiry that comes straight to your inbox.
